Cong fumes over Sudarshan remarks Former RSS chief had said Sonia was behind the Indira and Rajiv Gandhi assassinations

There is a sense of intense outrage in the Congress following former RSS chief KS Sudarshan's remarks against UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
"It is for them to make amends, but if our agitated party workers come up with some reaction then the responsibility for its consequences would be theirs," chief spokesperson Janardan Dwivedi said.

At a dharna in Bhopal on Wednesday, Sudarshan had alleged that Sonia was a "CIA agent" and had conspired in the assassinations of "her mother-in-law Indira and husband Rajiv". Both houses of parliament were adjourned on Thursday as Congress members created a ruckus demanding action against Sudarshan.

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh also demanded that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat should come clean on the issue. "We strongly condemn Sudarshan's statement. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat should tell whether he agrees with the statement or not. If he doesn't, he should condemn it openly," he added.
Sonia Gandhi has been "an ideal wife, daughter-in-law and mother" and it is totally unacceptable that anyone makes such remarks against a person who has even turned down the prime minister's post, Singh added.
But the RSS response was quite measured. "The RSS has noted reports in a section of the media attributing it (the remarks) to former Sar Sanghchalak KS Sudarshan. However, it is not the opinion of the RSS," said spokesperson Ram Madhav.

However, BJP, the political affiliate of the RSS, quickly distanced itself from Sudarshan's remarks.
"As a democratically elected leader she (Gandhi) should be respected. She is the chairperson of a ruling coalition. Whatever political differences we have with her must be addressed within an accepted, democratic framework and behaviour," said BJP spokesperson Tarun Vijay.
The remark comes at a time when the RSS is under fire for sponsoring "saffron terrorism".
